Pat Utomi, NCF Not Competent To Make Appointment For Us - Labour Party

The Daily Crucible | Sunday, August 14, 2022

The Labour Party (LP) says the Prof. Pat Utomi - led National Consultative Front (NCFront), an umbrella body of '3rd Force' Political Alternatives, has not right to make appointment for her regarding Mr. Charles Okadigbo.

LP says further that no one has been appointed as her Spokesman contrary to news items that made the rounds in respect of the office and Mr Charles Okadigbo.

In a statement made available to The Daily Crucible, by Com. Arabambi Abayomi, the National Publicity Secretary of LP, he stated that Prof. Pat Utomi who is the leader of NCF "can not usurp" or appropriate the function of the Labour Party National Chairman, Barr. Julius Abure.

According to the National Publicity Secretary, all appointments by the LP are made through the office of the National Chairman and announcement made by  the National Publicity Secretary on the directive of the National Chairman.

The statement reads, "Our attention has been drawn to the news intercepted through multiple news medium  that one Mr Charles Okadigbo has been appointed as Spokesman of LP  by Prof Pat Utomi

LP says
It's not undisputed that  LP has not made such appointment since Prof Pat Utomi  who the leader of NCF can not usurp the function of the National Chairman.

For the records , Prof Pat Utomi who is the leader of the NCF,  a strong affiliate of the LP , while in a zoom meeting introduced Charles Okadigbo as the Media Head of the "Big Tent" , an acronym for the NCF and  No mention of LP was made on that platform.

All appointments by the LP are made through the office of the National Chairman and announcement made by  the National Publicity Secretary under the directive of the National Chairman

 For emphasis and clarity :

Article 14 sub section 1(a) of the Labour Party Constitution states as follows;

"The National Chairman shall give leadership to the Party and shall preside over all meetings of the National Executive Council and the National Working Committee of the Party.

This Constitutional provision quoted above vested the power  of all appointments and leadership only  to the person and the office of the National Chairman.

 LP now uses this opportunity to sound a note of warning to any person or group of persons and all support groups  that the LP is guided by the Constitution in all its activities and as such all members of the Party and well as interested members of the Public presently in LP should from here on take serious caution that the function of the Nation Chairman as head of LP is not in question and all must obey the Constitution of the Labour Party and be guided by the party directives."
