Ogun: Three Die As Bus Somersaults At Onipepeye

Three persons have died and 10 others were injured on Sunday evening when a Mazda bus conveying them tumbled on  the road following a burst tyre.

The bus marked APP 297 XA somersaulted at Day Waterman College  - Onipepeye stretch of Abeokuta - Kobape - Siun road.

The Daily Crucible learnt two children were rescued unhurt in the accident involving worshippers who were returning from a just concluded religious programme of a mega church on Mowe corridor of Lagos - Sagamu expressway.

Superintendent Route Commander and Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe, disclosed this on behalf of Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun Sector Command, Umar Ahmed.

Umar Ahmed said that a total of 15 persons comprising 09 female adults, 04 male adults, 01 male child and 01 female child were involved.

"One vehicle was involved with registration number APP297XA a Mazda bus. The suspected cause of the lone crash was excessive speed when approaching a dangerous bend  which led to loss of control.

"The injured victims were taken to State Hospital Ijaiye for medical attention and the corpses were deposited at the same Hospital mortuary.

"The Sector Commander commiserated with the family of the crash victims and advised motorists to use common sense speed limit and that speed kills. He also reiterated on the hidden dangers on road especially when excessive speed is involved," he stated.
