Hours into the on going Saturday governorship election in Osun State, it has still remained a hot race between the incumbent governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Ademola Adeleke of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Feelers from the field across the state showed that the presence of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Labour Party (LP) and other fringe political parties participating in the governorship race were marginally seen.

Other candidates include Akinade Akanmu Ogunbiyi (the Accord Party), the African Action Congress candidate with Awojide Peter Segun as its candidate; Kehinde Munirudeen Olumuyiwa A Atanda bears the flag of the Action Democratic Party; the APM presents Awoyemi Oluwatayo Lukuman while Adebayo Adeolu Elisha holds the flag of All People’s Party in the election.

Also, Adeleke Adedapo is for the Boot Party; Yussuff Sulaimon Lasun, Labour Party; Rasaq Oyelami Saliu is for the NNPP; National Rescue Movement has Abede Adetona Samuel as its flagbearer; Jackson Nurudeen as its flagbearer; Peoples Redemption Party: Ayowole Olubusuyi Adedeji; Social Democratic Party: Omigbodun Oyegoke Akinrinola; Young Progressives Party: Ademola Bayonle Adeseye; and Zenith Labour Party flies  Adesuyi John Olufemi.

Unless each of these political parties and the corresponding candidates changed strategy fast and work more on land than on social media or the digital space, none of them would be of much electoral help to their respective presidential candidates in the February 25,  2023 presidential election.

Meanwhile, Oyetola have voted at Ward 1, LA school, Popo, Iragbiji polling unit in Boripe Local Government Area, Osun Central senatorial district, expressing the confidence that victory will be his.

The APC governorship candidate arrived around 10:35 am and voted by 10:55am.

Oyetola's wife, Kafayat Oyetola also cast her vote in the same  polling unit in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.

Similarly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Ademola Adeleke cast his vote at his polling unit in Ede.

The dancing Senator shunt queue to cast his vote, excusing the action that a supporter yielded a space on the line that  enabled him vote earlier than expected.
Our reporter gathered that in some polling units, electorate were being handed cash after voting a particular candidate and his party.
