Eid-el-Kabir: Abiodun, Adeola Greet Muslims, Call For Moderate Celebration, Prayer

Governor Dapo Abiodun has felicitated Muslim faithful in the state over the celebration of the Eid-el-Kabir festival, with call to celebrate with moderation.

Also, the senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District and Chairman of Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Solomon Adeola, has enjoined all Muslim faithful in his senatorial district and Nigerians to pray for security across the nation as well as the peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections to deepen democracy in Nigeria

Governor Abiodun in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, on Friday, noted that as Muslims all over the world celebrate the fidestival, it is time to merry and share with the loved ones, urging them to ensure they also share goodies with the less privileged in the state.

He further urged them to be guided by the faith, perseverance and obedience demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim when he was reminded by God to fulfill his promise of sacrificing his son, if he was blessed with a child.

The governor who said the country is presently going through challenges, called on the adherents of Islamic religion, to use the festival and offer prayer for Nigeria, particularly on security and economy.

"I felicitate Muslims in our dear state for joining Muslim Umah all over the world to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir. As we are aware, this is one festival that symbolizes Allah's blessings and love for mankind, I urge our Muslims brothers in observing this important act of worship.

"As we know that the country is being confronted with challenges, particularly, security, I want to enjoin our Muslim brothers to celebrate with moderation. And as Islam preaches, they should also remember the poor and share the merry with them.

"Similarly, the festival must be used to invoke Allah's mercy on our country, state and homes, especially at this period our nation is faced with banditry, terrorism, kidnapping and insurgency". Abiodun was quoted to have stated in the statement. 

He, however, reiterated his administration's commitment to providing good governance and conducive ambience for businesses and investment to thrive in the state, with the aim of making life more meaningful to the people.

Senator Adeola Urges Prayer For Security At Sallah

As Muslims the world over celebrates the Eid el Kabir tomorrow Senator Solomon Adeola has enjoined all Muslims to pray for security across the nation as well as the peaceful conduct of the 2023 general elections some months away to deepen democracy in Nigeria.

In his Eid-el- Kabir message to felicitate with adherents of the Islamic faith, Senator Adeola said a strict adherence to the teachings of Islam in the areas of sacrifice, love, brotherliness, piousness, peaceful coexistence will
greatly assist in security and safety.

In a Sallah message to the Muslims faithful by Chief Kayode Odunaro, his 
Media Adviser, Adeola stressed that more than anything else, the nation needs security and peace to implement development initiatives as well as continue with ongoing development efforts.

“As we approach another election season let us all shun the debilitating approach of seeing politics as a “do or die affair” but rather let us see it as the quest for service for the development of the society with electoral outcomes taken in the spirit of sportsmanship” he stated. 

The senator said he will continue to represent his constituents by ensuring that they continue to enjoy dividends of democracy from the government as well as from his programmes in the area of education, provision of social amenities like roads, boreholes and transformers among others constituency empowerment programmes aimed at complementing efforts of government at all levels.
