Suspense As Senator Ekweremadu Withdraws From Enugu PDP Guber Primary

Former Deputy President of Nigerian Senate, Snator Ike Ekweremadu, has backed out of his 2023  governorship ambition for Enugu State, saying he will not be participating in the PDP governorship primary election scheduled for this morning, Wednesday.

Although, Ekweremadu did not give reason(s) why he pulled out of the Enugu governorship race primary on the platform of the PDP, a development that left many wondering what could be amiss, but the Senator assured his supporters that he would keep them abreast of his likely decision on the next way forward. 

Hon. Charles Ogbo Asogwa, the 
Director-General, Ikeoha Campaign Organisation, who made this known in a short release, while urging his teeming supporters to remain calm, Ekweremadu also thanked them for the enormous goodwill they had ceaselessly invested in the actualisation of the “Pathway to a New Enugu State.”

The release reads, "We wish to inform our supporters and Nigerians that the former Deputy President of the Senate and foremost governorship aspirant in Enugu State, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, will not be participating in the PDP governorship primary election scheduled for this Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

"Meanwhile, we continue to trust God as we appreciate our teeming supporters and the good people of Enugu State for the enormous goodwill they have ceaselessly invested in the actualisation of the “Pathway to a New Enugu State.”

"We urge them to remain peaceful and be assured that we will keep them abreast of our decision on the way forward," he stated

Meanwhile, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu might have succeeded in pushing through his ambition to see his anointed political son, Barr. Peter Mbah, from Owo in Nkanu East Local Government Area as the right man to clinch the PDP ticket.

Enormous resources had been mobilised in the last 72 hours and horse trading carried out to ensure that Mbah emerges the governorship candidate of PDP this morning at this Wednesday primaries in the state.

The Daily Crucible learnt that his heavy political manouvering that saw him likely to hold the shory end of the stick - delegates wise, informed why Ike Ekweremadu pulled out of the primary at the eleventh hour after seeing the bold handwriting on the wall.

Two other aspirants, including Ken Onoh, willingly stepped down for Mbah.
