Road To SENATE 2023: OGD Thanks APC, Seeks Cooperation To Reposition Ogun East

A former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has expressed his gratitude to the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC), especially the Ogun East extraction of it, for the trust reposed in him,which led to his emergence as the Senatorial candidate of the party for 2023 election.

Daniel, popularly known as OGD, won the APC ticket on Saturday after polling 450 votes to defeat incumbent Senator Lekan Mustapha and two other aspirants at the election held at Itoro Hall, Ijebu-Ode. 

The APC Returning Officer, Taiwo Egbeyemi, who announced results of the Primaries said Daniel polled a total of 450 votes to emerge as winner. Senator Mustapha polled 29 votes to emerge a distant second while Otunba Seyi Oduntan believe to be Governor Dapo Abiodun's preferred aspirant garnered 11 votes. 

Former deputy governor, Segun Adesegun, polled six votes at the primary where a total number of delegates for the election were 515 while the total votes cast stood at 496. 

However, Sen. Mustapha, Daniel's main challenger, withdrew midway into the voting.

On Monday, elated Gbenga Daniel thanked the party, governor Dapo Abiodun, former governor Olusegun Osoba and the two paramount rulers in Ogun East - the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona and Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi for the their support and guidance that led to his victory.

The Senator hopeful also solicited the support and cooperation of other contestants for the APC ticket in order to reposition the Ogun East Senatorial district better.

Daniel's 'THANK YOU ALL' message reads:

With thanksgiving to God Almighty, I wish to express my profound appreciation to the good people of our great party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), most especially members in the Ogun East Senatorial district who believe in us. They gave a full expression to the Trust they repose in us on Saturday through the Delegates, their votes and the overwhelming victory which returned me as the Candidate of the APC for the Ogun East Senatorial seat in the 2023 general elections. 

I am most grateful to men and women across the Ogun East Senatorial district who shared in our message of hope, sending a strong message to everyone within Ogun East that Ijebu and Remo are cut from the same apron, united, indivisible and resolute for a shared prosperity. 

To these delegates, I say thank you. 
To my fellow Aspirants, all of whom we shared one thing or the other, I offer my hand of fellowship and cooperation for us to jointly work and reposition our Senatorial district.

To the entire campaign team I thank them for their sacrifices in the last few months; the strength of their canvassing and evangelism is unprecedented.

To His Imperial Majesty, Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebu Kingdom, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR, Ogbagba Agbotewole, I thank you most profusely for your fatherly guidance, prayers and love. May Almighty God continue to preserve you for us all. 

In the same vein, I am most grateful to His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remoland and other Royal Highnesses for their various intervention and support.

This appreciation message would not be complete without mentioning His Excellency, The Executive Governor of our state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, mfr, a friend and brother for his continuous support at critical times. 
Special thanks to His Exc, Chief Olusegun Osoba for his fatherly role. I am most grateful.
