Nigerian Army troops of 34 Brigade, have dislodged gunmen from their training camp located at Okporo in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.

Army spokesperson, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, who announced this in a statement on Saturday, said troops carried the operation in conjunction with operatives of the Department of State Service.

He said the training camp belongs to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network.

Nwachukwu said the troops neutralised two members of the group, who have been on the wanted list of security agencies, during the gun battle at the camp on Friday.

He said the two wanted members of the dissident group had been terrorising the residents in the general area of Orlu, Orsu and Njaba.

Earlier, suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN) engaged the police in a gun fuel this week in Asaba.

One IPOB/ESN person was neutralised in the process.

The separatist group who had infiltrated Delta state to drive home their stay at home order on Monday, were gunned down during a breathtaking encounter with the police.

Source said about 5 AK47 assault rifles loaded with magazines were recovered from the hoodlums who the police had since termed kidnappers.

According to sources, the men had operated Wednesday somewhere in Ugbolu on the outskirts of Asaba, killing a Dangote truck driver for not obeying their directive.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Muhammed Ari Ali had earlier warned the IPOB/ESN members to vacate the state on the grounds that Delta State was not part of South-East geopolitical zone or Igbo States where they can operate unchallenged or be ready to meet their waterloo.

Ali had however, assured Deltans that the Police under his watch were capable and able to provide the needed security for their lives and property; advising them to go about their lawful businesses.

But the encounter it was learnt took place after the men ran into an ambush by the police and a fierce gun battle ensued during which 10 of them were liquidated and five arrested with insignia of their belief and agitation.
