Special Adviser to governor Dapo Abiodun on Information, Modele Sarafa - Yusuf, on Wednesday asked those wondering why she had declared her ambition to run for the governorship seat of Ogun state against her principal to also endeavour to find out if governor Abiodun had declared his intention to seek re-election in 2023.

In her estimation, Abiodun has not yet declared his interest formally in reelection.

The governor had in December last year directed all political appointees in his cabinet with 2023 political ambitions to resign on or before January 31, 2022, to pursue their dreams.

The governor had hinged the decision on the need to avoid observed distractions and loss of focus in the discharge of their responsibilities, and while admitting that it is legitimate to have such ambitions, the governor noted that “as an administration unwaveringly committed to delivering on its electoral promises, any activity that is capable of undermining the implementation of the 'Building Our Future Together Agenda' of the Administration will not be tolerated.”

He also counselled that those who cannot wait till the appropriate time for 2023 electioneering process should take their leave to pursue their ambitions without constituting a clog in the wheel of the implementation of government programmes and activities.

The deadline for resignation expired since January 31st and it is not yet certain if about a dozen number of persons in Abiodun's government had heeded to the directive.

However, The Daily Crucible gathered from unofficial source that Mrs Sarafa had resigned from her appointment some days back to pursue her governorship aspiration.

Mrs Sarafa - Yusuf who was part of the Dapo Abiodun's media team in the build - up to the 2019 governorship poll, said she wants to serve the good people of Ogun State and provides an enabling environment that would provide jobs to her burgeoning youths population, empower women and revitalise the economy.

"I want to be a transformative and inclusive leader and to make Ogun the state of choice for people to live, work and play because of the educational, economic and cultural opportunities; safety, livability, vibrancy and connectedness," she said.
