The Orimolusi-elect of Ijebu Igbo,
Prince Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adedeji Tanimowo Adebajo has paid a courtesy visit to the Awujale of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty Oba Alaiyeluwa (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, CFR.

Jide Seun Fowode, Special Adviser to Orimolusi-elect on Media & Strategy, said five monarchs from the five quarters that constitute Ijebu - Igbo in Ijebu North Local Government(INLG) Area of Ogun State accompanied the Orimolusi - elect, Prince Jaiyeoba Adebajo, to Oba Adetona.

Ijebu - Igbo, the Headquarters of INLG is the maternal hometown of Oba Adetona and some of the nation's prominent politicians, industrialists and business tycoons, including late Afenifere leader, Senator Abraham Aderigbigbe Adesanya, late Senator Biyi Durojaiye, late Senator Buruji Kashamu, former Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Gbenga Kaka, Senator Lekan Mustapha, founder and Chairman of Globacom, Otunba Mike Adenuga among others.

The populous Ijebu-Igbo town  has been without an Orimolusi for 27 years following the death of Oba Samuel Adetayo, the Ikupakude IV, who joined his ancestors in May 1994 and attempts to install a successor was stymied by tortuous back and forth protracted litigations and other issues.

It is generally believed that the emergence of Prince Adebajo as Orimolusi - elect and subsequent confirmation by critical stakeholders and ultimately his soon coming  installation by the state government will finally end the 27 years interregnum

Until his emergence as Oba - elect January 4, 2022, Prince Adebajo is the Balogun of St.Peter’s Catholic Parish, Oke Padi, Ijebu Igbo.

The Daily Crucible gathered that 10 of the  11 - man Committee of warrant chiefs with Prof. Ademola Adedeji as the Chairman and Mr. Fatayo Bolujo (Secretary ) voted in a selection process that produced Prince Adebajo as the Orimolusi - elect.

Other members of the 11 - man Committee of warrant chiefs(Kingmakers) are Prof. Yinka Balogun, Prof. Kola Balogun, Prof. Layi Ogunkoya, Chief Ademola Okusanya, Chief P. O. Omotara, Prof. Bisi Ogunfowora, Mr. Olusegun Olusanya, Prof. B. Obigbesan and  Prof. Ayo Ogunye.

Adebajo polled six votes to defeat Prince Soliu Sadiku in the election, who garnered only four votes.

Not surprisingly, elated Prince Jaiyeoba Adebajo decided to pay courtesy visit to the Awujale who was instrumental to ensuring a peaceful end to the 27 years interregnum over the Orimolusi stool.

Jide Seun Fowode listed the Ijebu-Igbo monarchs in the entourage of the Orimolusi - elect on Wednesday as HRH, Alaiyeluwa Oba Mufutau Yusuf, Sopenlukale of Oke Sopin, HRH, Alaiyeluwa Oba Ibitoye Solaja, Keegbo of Atikori, HRH Alaiyeluwa Oba Stephen Adeleke Adekoya, Bejeroku of Oke Agbo, HRH, Alaiyeluwa Oba Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo, Olokine of Ojowo and HRH, Alaiyeluwa Oba Aderemi Adewale Ogunye, Abijaparako of Japara.

Adeyemi Kukoyi, Chairman, Ijebu Igbo Council of Elders, Engr. Bayo Dayo, Dr. Tunde Ipaye, immediate past Commissioner for Health, Ogun State and a member of the Coronation Committee and Chief Femi Omotara.

His Royal Majesty Oba Alaiyeluwa (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, while welcoming the entourage went down memory lane recapping how he became the King, bringing out lessons in unity, harmony and genuine reconciliation. He expressed joy on the choice of the Orimolusi-elect and enjoined all the five Obas in Ijebu Igbo to submit to the authority of the Orimolusi and ensure a rancour-free reign of the Oba-elect. He freely expressed the source of his affinity to Ijebu Igbo being his mother's town.

The five Obas pledged their allegiance to the Orimolusi-elect and promised to work towards the accelerated progress of the town.

Earlier, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye introduced members of the visitation team which, according to him, is in line with the tradition and due process towards the successful coronation of the Orimolusi-elect.

The Chairman of the Orimolusi Coronation Committee, Otunba Femi Dinah, introduced the Orimolusi-elect, Prince Lawrence Jayeoba Adedeji Tanimowo Adebajo, describing him as a man of destiny, a successful and accomplished entrepreneur, a humble, noble, God-fearing and compassionate personality who is ready to help people rise above challenges.

The Orimolusi-elect, while responding to the admonition of the Awujale thanked God, the enabler of all things. He appreciated Awujale for his fatherly role in ensuring a peaceful end to the 27 years vacuum and for his endless love for Ijebu Igbo.

He thanked the Elders of Ijebu Igbo, Members of the Ojuromi Royal family, the Warrant Chiefs and all well-meaning sons and daughters of the town who, with passion, sought an end to the long years of the imbroglio.

He prayed that his ascension to the throne will uplift Ijebu Igbo and create a bond of unity that is essential for growth.
