Boy Oromoni : Okowa Backs Sanwo - Olu's Call For Probe

Delta State governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Saturday, said he spoke to Sylvester Oromoni, the father of a late student from Dowen College in Lagos, Sylvester Oromoni Jr, and expressed his support for call by the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo - Olu, for an investigation into the boy's death.

Okowa takes to his social media platforms, to express his agreement with the Lagos government to launch an investigation into the child’s death.

He said: “Last night, I spoke to Mr. Sylvester Oromoni, the father of late Sylvester Oromoni Jr., the Dowen College student who unfortunately died under very controversial and unclear circumstances.

“During the call, I expressed my agreement with the decision of the Lagos State government to launch an investigation into the death of Sylvester, a native of Warri South LGA in Delta State.

“As we continue to watch this case closely, we extend our prayers and support to the Oromoni family. As they mourn the loss of their young son, I pray that Almighty God gives them the strength that they need at this difficult time."

Also, the boy’s cousin reeled out photos and video on social media, all suggesting that the child was bullied and beaten, which to his early death.

The Daily Crucible reports that the Lagos State Ministry of Education had 24 hpurs earlier, announced the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki, pending the outcome of investigation into the circumstances sorrounding the boy’s death.

But the school had denied all allegations, declaring that Oromoni was neither bullied nor beaten.

The school said the boy merely complained of hip pain after playing football.
