16 Perish As Bus Explodes Into Flames In Bauchi

A fatal road accident on Bambal village corridor of Kano-Jama’are road, Bauchi State, has left no fewer than 16 people dead on Sunday night.

The accident occurred when a Toyota Hummer bus carrying passengers ran into an articulated truck and exploded into flames around 7:00p.m.

Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, who disclosed this to newsmen, advised motorists to always be safety conscious and observe traffic rules and regulations while plying the roads.

“Sixteen people were involved in the crash comprising 10 males and six females and all the people on board lost their lives to the crash.

“The Hummer bus burst into flames after it ran into the truck and no single soul survived the crash.

“Some people were burnt beyond recognition inside the Hummer bus,” said Abdullahi.

The sector commander noted that it took FRSC operatives about seven minutes to arrive at the scene to clear the site, attributed the accident to speed violation.

He disclosed that the remains of the dead were deposited in the morgue of Kiyawa General Hospital on Kano-Jama’are road for identification.
