Huge balls of fire erupted on Monday at the Nembe/Bonny/Bille jetty in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, with dozens of people feared dead.

It is not yet clear what touched - off the massive fire at the jetty, even as it keeps  raging despite having consumed over six market boats in its track with entrapped passengers.

Barely a day earlier, an explosion had also rocked an illegal oil dumpsite in Rumuokoro axis of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivets State, razing down many buildings including the Zenith bank branch office located there.

The Daily Crucible learnt that the boats were loading and offloading at the jetty when the fire suddenly erupted.

Witnesses believed the boats were carrying some illegally refined petroleum products when the incident occurred.
