How Mother, Speech Impaired Son Killed Neighbour In Ogun - Police

The Ogun State Police Command has explained how a -  35 year  old woman, Mary Ogbeifu and her speech impaired 17 - year old son, Godwin Ogbeifu, gruesomely murdered their 60 - year old neighbour, Madam Iyabo Olasheinde in Yakoyo area of Ojodu.

The Command disclosed that while Mary Ogbeifu was quarreling with Madam  Olasheinde and demanding explanation why her son was chased out of the compound, the son, who is deaf and dumb, pulled a bottle with jagged ends which he brought with him from home and stabbed the woman on her neck. 

The Spokesman of the Command,  Abimbola Oyeyemi, made the clarification while confirming the incident on Friday. 

Abimbola stated: "The suspects were arrested following a distress call received by the police at Ojodu Abiodun divisional headquarters, that while Godwin Ogbeifu who resides at Akoko Crescent, Yakoyo area of Ojodu went to the compound of the deceased at Omolara street Yakoyo, he was sent away from the compound having been warned not to come to the compound before. 

"On getting home, he informed his mother who then followed him to the said compound where the deceased was met within the compound. While the mother was quarreling with the deceased and demanding for the reason why her son was sent away, the son,who is deaf and dumb took a broken bottle which he brought with him and used it to stab the deceased on her neck. 

"Upon the distress call, the Dpo Ojodu Abiodun, SP Eyitayo Akinluwade mobilized his men and moved to the scene, where the two suspects were apprehended and the victim rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment, but she was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty."

According to Abimbola, the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. 

 He quoted the commissioner of police, Lanre Bankole, as ordering the immediate transfer of the suspects to homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department(SCIID) for further investigation.

The Police Spokesman added that the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation is concluded.
