Police Arrest IPOB Members In Ghana

People suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra  (IPOB) were arrested in Ghana by the country's security agents. 

The proscribed secessionist group were rounded up in the West African country while holding a meeting on Sunday, August 29, at Mallam Junction, Accra, Ghana.

Ghanaian police were said to have stormed the venue, arrested the IPOB members and whisked them to an unknown destination.

A video of the IPOB members singing in a police patrol van after  their arrest have gone viral online.

 However, the Presidency has  declared the IPOB group and its members as terrorists.

The presidency in a statement on Sunday signed by the senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, described IPOB as terrorists.

The Presidency blamed the group and its members for acts of terrorism in the southeast region of the country.

It noted that the group is only hiding under the umbrella of struggling for freedom to perpetrate its acts of terrorism.
