One Dies As Truck Falls On Two Cars In Ogun

One person lost his life on Saturday morning when a truck bearing gas lost control and fell on two vehicles on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at Orimerunmu in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Public Relations Officer, Ogun state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta on Saturday.

Akinbiyi said the accident occurred at 7:03am and involved an unmarked Volvo Truck carrying gas; a Toyota Corolla with registration number EQ 165 LSR; and Toyota Sienna marked FKJ 341 GC.

He said that the gas-laden truck lost control and fell on the two vehicles.

According to him, eight people comprising three men, three women and two minors were involved in the accident.

He noted that one person died in the accident and had been deposited at the morgue of Famobis hospital in the area.

“According to eyewitness account, the gas-laden truck lost control due to speeding and the tanker fell on both the Toyota Sienna and Toyota Corolla vehicles, all of which were outbound Lagos.

“The Toyota Corolla car consists of the father, mother and two minors (their children) while the Toyota Sienna consists of a male (the driver) and two females who escaped unhurt.

“Unfortunately, the driver of the gas laden truck ran away.”
