Two Killed, Buildings Set On Fire As Gunmen Attack Gov Uzodinma's Home

In a more daring manner, unidentified gunmen invaded the country home of Imo State Governor,  Senator Hope Uzodinma, in Omuma and held the residents in terror, even as they let out staccato of gunshots into the place.

For the better part of today's morning, pandemium, confusion, apprehension, cries and shrieks of pains enveloped the neighbourhood as fear - striken residents  struggled to escape from the attackers.

With improvise explosive devices and petrol bombs, the unknown gunmen it was learnt, razed buildings and vehicles parked within the premises of the governor's country home in Omuma in Oru East Local Government Area in early hours of Saturday.

Unofficial source told The Daily Crucible that two security guards on duty were overpowered and killed during the early morning attack while a number of others were injured by the attackers and in an ensuing stampede.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, confirming the sad development to inquirers, said security men were harmed during the attack.

 “It is true the governor's country home was attacked but we have still not gotten clear information.  About two security men on duty at the governor’s house were killed. NSCDC personnel was among the security men who lost their lives during the attack.”
