Security Operatives have commenced intense search for the students of  Government Secondary School, Kagara, Niger state, who were abducted along with some of their teachers by bandits that stormed the school in the morning of Wednesday.

One student was killed during the savage attack and abduction of the innocent students, teachers and their family members before herding them away to yet to be discovered location.

It is not yet clear what the student population is but the abduction came barely two months after over 300 schoolboys were kidnapped at the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina state.

Earlier on their way to the school, the bandits had carried out a raid on the highway, where they attacked  a bus belonging to the Niger State Transport Authority and abducted its  22 passengers.

The passengers too were also taken to an unknown destination, escorted by the abductors bearing high calibre weapons,  including Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG).

A video of the dastardly act was recorded  by the barbarians and caused to be circulated on many social media platforms.

The Daily Crucible gathered that security agencies, including the military,  are working on how to "trace and rescue" the captives fast lest the bandits take them far into remote places.

unofficial source said the school boasts ofabout  1,0OO students but scores of them were believed to have been kidnapped when the school came under attack in a manner reminiscent of the Chibok school girls, where over 2OO of them were also abducted by a terrorist group, Boko haram sect, in 2014.

In the last five years or more, bandits have carried out savage attacks in Rann, Karewa, Sabon Birni, Dan Amuwa, Dutsin Gari, Zabarmari, Kadisau, Jibia, Sanyinna, Birnin Gwari, Zaria, Batsari, Maru, Zurmi communities - all in the north, abducting hundreds and killing scores of others.

President Muhammadu Buhari who has received reports of the latest brazen attack on the College students in Kagara, Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State, has directed the Armed Forces and Police, to ensure immediate and safe return of all the captives.

The President has equally dispatched to Minna, Niger State a team of security chiefs to coordinate the rescue operation and meet with state officials, community leaders, as well as parents and staff of the College.

According to Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) to Buhari,  the President has assured of the support of his administration to the Armed Forces in their brave struggle against terrorism and banditry and urged them to do all that can be done to bring an end to this saga, and avoid such cowardly attacks on schools in the future.

“Our prayers are with families of the victims of this attack,” said the President as he condemned as cowardly the attack on innocent school children," Garba stated in a statement.
