Former Minister of Aviation, Chief  Femi Fani-Kayode, on Wednesday appealed to Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, to forgive popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Igboho, for the uncomplementary comments against the revered Yoruba monarch.

Igboho whose real name is Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo, had fired at the Ooni of Ife for allegedly failing to draw the attention  of President Muhammadu Buhari to the cries and agonies of yoruba people following  the activities of killer herdsmen in South West region.

He alleged that the Ooni didn’t represent the Yoruba nation well during the recent meeting with Mr. President, submitting that the Ooni disappointed himself and the Yoruba nation with his alleged action.

Igboho  also revealed that he rejected an invitation by the monarch because of his alleged failure to represent Yorubaland well before Buhari.

He spoke earlier on same Wednesday during  a virtual ‘Townhall meeting with the Yoruba in Diaspora.

But in a series of tweets, Fani-Kayode said he had spoken with the activist to ascertain what happened, stressing that  the young man had shown remorse for his utterances.

“I just spoke with Sunday Igboho and he confirmed to me that what he said about our revered Ooni of Ife was said in the heat of the moment.

“He expressed his regrets and I was relieved to hear that. To err is human and to forgive is divine. I appeal to Kabiyesi to forgive him.

“For the record, let me state clearly and categorically that no Ooni of Ife, whether living or dead, has ever been a slave of the Fulani and neither will they ever be,” Fani - Kayode said.
