United States Commends Nigeria For Support In Rescuing Abducted American

The United States of America has commended Nigerian Government for her partnership and support that led to the safe rescue of an American citizen held hostage in northern part of the country by bandits.

The Pentagon spokesman, Jonathan Hoffman, had in a release, said a rescue operation was conducted on Saturday morning on behalf of an American.

The American was said to have been  abducted in Niger Republic on Tuesday by gunmen and subsequently moved to Nigeria.

“U.S. forces conducted a hostage rescue operation during the early hours of 31 October in Northern Nigeria to recover an American citizen held hostage by a group of armed men.

“This American citizen is safe and is now in the care of the U.S. Department of State. No U.S military personnel were injured during the operation.

“We appreciate the support of our international partners in conducting this operation. The United States will continue to protect our people and our interests anywhere in the world," Jonathan Hoffman stated.

However, the daring manner the U.S Naval Seal was said to have taken out the bandits and freed the captive, left many Nigerians wondering in awe the extent to which the United States could go to save her citizen from the jaw of death anywhere on planet earth.

Others concluded with derison that Nigerian authority and the nation's security agencies were unaware of when the SEAL arrived, conducted the mission and departed afterwards.

But the U.S mission in Nigeria while lauding the American warriors for the mission, acknowledged, in her tweet, Nigeria's role that ensured the success of the operation.

"We thank the Government of Nigeria for its partnership and support of this mission. https://t.co/qieeRcEax2," it stated in a tweet yesterday.
