Ogun State House of Assembly has appealed  to Governor Dapo Abiodun to prevail on the security chiefs in the state, especially the Police and Nigeria Customs Service(NCS), to rein - in their overzealous Operatives at Ogun border communities.

The Assembly lamented that the law - abiding indigenes and residents of border towns in Yewa North Local Government Area of the state have become the subjects of routine harassments by security Operatives - Police, Customs among others, positioned there.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Kunle Oluomo made the appeal to Abiodun while responding to the submissions of a member representing Yewa North I State Constituency, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, and his Yewa North II counterpart, Haruna Wahab during plenary on Thursday.

The two state Lawmakers separately alleged that aside the incessant  harassments of their people by the various security formations in Yewa North, the security Operatives also erected innumerable check points in the area ostensibly to "extort law-abiding citizens," who go about their daily business activities.

Oluomo appealed to the Governor to urgently engage the leadership of the various security formations, including the Police and the Nigerian Customs Service, on the need to curb the overzealousness of their men and officers.

The Speaker said the men and officers should be told in clear terms to abide by the rule of engagements in relation to their duties in border towns, work to protect lives and property of citizens and residents of the Gateway State.
