Ahead of the September 19 Governorship  Polls in Edo State, the Commissioner of Police,  Lagos State, Hekeem Odumosu, has deployed 1000(One Thousand) officers and men to provide security for lives and property during and immediately after after  Election.

The 1000 men will  augment the others already  deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Abubakar Adamu, for the national assignment.

The contigents were admonished at the parade ground of the Police College, Ikeja, preparatory to their departure.

The Commissioner of Police warned them to be of good conduct and exhibit professionalism in discharging their duties before, during and the election, Superintendent of Police, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in statement on Sunday.

Adejobi who is the Lagos Command Police Public Relations Officer, added that  Hakeem Odumosu reiterated the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to sustain the core values of democracy in Nigeria via fair, free and credible elections.

The Police boss also dropped the hint on the welfare packages for police personnel detailed for the Edo special duty as approved by the Inspector-General of Police to encourage and boost their morales.

Odumosu, who had earlier arranged clean, serviceable and executive buses to convey the personnel to Edo State with fully armed escort men, urged them to protect their lives and property and do away with any act that is capable of denting the image of the Force and truncate peaceful conduct of the election in Edo State.
