Edo Decides:Obaseki In Early Lead As INEC Releases Results

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has declared the results of the Saturday governorship election in Edo State with Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in early lead, scoring more votes from 10 Local Governments as announced by INEC.

The election was conducted in 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State in192 Wards  and 2,627 polling units.

Godwin Obaseki of the PDP scored 162, 044 while his main challenger Pastor Osagie Ize - Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered102, 498 votes from the declared results in the 10 LGAs.

Although, over a dozen political parties and candidates contested for the governorship seat yesterday but it was obvious even to the blind that the keen race has largely been between the incumbent Governor, Obaseki, and Ize-Iyamu.

Obaseki is leading Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu by 59, 546 votes margins.
