The Senate of the University of Lagos, on Monday, elected a female, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola as Acting Vice Chancellor.

Prof.(Mrs) Ogunsola emerged the Acting Vice Chancellor after an election conducted during the Senate meeting with 167 professors in attendance.

Until the latest development, the pioneer female Provost, College of Medicine University of Lagos, was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services).

She polled 135 at the election to defeat her opponent, Prof. Ben Oghojafor, who garnered  31 votes.

The Daily Crucible gathered that one vote was declared void.

Oghojafor is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Management Services.

But there was a twist to the Senate meeting where Prof. Folasade Ogundola was elected Acting Vice Chancellor as a notice issued earlier on Monday by the University Registrar, Oladejo Azeez, indicated that there was no formal summoning of the Senate meeting.

According to the notice, Azeez urged members to wait until the Federal Government had clarified some issues in respect of any planned Senate meeting.
