From Babalola, Gafar Abeokuta

The New Chief Imam of Egba land Saad Olaonipekun Alade Bamigbola on Wednesday advised Muslims in Ogun State, particularly in Egbaland,  to pray at home during up coming eid-el-kabir festival.

Bamigbola gave the advice during a press conference at the Central Mosque,  kobiti, Abeokuta the Ogun State capital, stressing it would enhance safety during this COVID - 19 pandemic.

The Chief Imam on the plan of the Federal Government to ban generator is going to encourage inflation.

He said:  "Before banning the generator,  we should be ready to make sure  that your energy is ready .

"There is no doubt that our country is in a turbulent period following the global pandemic ravaging the whole world which brings about economic recession being experienced globally.

"For our country to experience buoyant economy once again,  we need work hard for her economic recovery by building more private refineries.

"NNPC must also be ready to be the off-takers for the refined products by supporting and buying their products by 60%.

"The federal government should take the issue of electricity seriously as their plan to ban the importation of Generators will only encourage the snuggling of the products.

"The only preparation we have is to make sure the light is in good order. We are over 300million people and our power can only serve is about 2to 3hrs per day . Why can't we ready for 30hrs.

"Am not blaming Bukhari or any body,  we are not ready to develop our country,  if we are ready,  let our life be there. If we are serious,  we can introduce people to them to come and do this thing.

" But everybody is ready  to do things into his own pocket.

"The lockdown is there,  nobody is going to make prayer on eid Kabir day. Everybody will pray at home . It's not by force you go to the eid to pray.

"It's not bad to observe the eid at the mosque but can we corporate? Can we maintain social distance? That is why we in Ogun State here,  we are not going to the eid or any mosque.

"The people will have to follow the government recommendation. It's for our own sake and not for the sake of the government.

" The recommendation of the government is to save our lives. If you refuse to do it,  you are risking your life. There's no spiritual solution to Covid-19 . We have done a lot of prayers" he concluded.
