Ogun: Okada Riders, Others Fraudulently Using Our Insignias - NSCDC

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Ogun State Command, on Tuesday raised the alarm that motorists, tricyclists, motorcyclists were fraudulently using the Corps' insignias in the state and warned them to desist from such undesirable acts. 

State Commandant, Commandant Hammed Abodunrin, who raised the alarm in Abeokuta, the Ogun State, capital, said the affected transporter in the Gateway State, were abusing NSCDC's official insignias such as stickers, emblems and badges.

Abodunrin warned further that pepertrators of the indecent, fraudulent and nefarious use of Corps' emblems risk arrest when caught.

The release reads: "the attention of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command  has been drawn to the irregular, unauthorised, indecent, fraudulent and nefarious acts of  abusing its official insignia such as stickers, emblems and badges amongst others.

"To this end, the State Commandant,  Commandant, Mr. Hammed Abodunrin, while addressing this issue  at the management meeting  vowed to deal decisively with anyone who is found to have been indiscriminately and fraudulently using such insignias in a manner capable of undermining the good will, reputation and understanding which the Corps enjoys from the public.

"Commandant Abodunrin therefore warns all motorists, tricyclists, motorcyclists and other road users to desist from such undesirable acts. 

"According to Abodunrin, this will be tantamount to impersonation and other offences which are punishable under various laws of the land.

"He equally revealed the command's readiness oblige fora for public education on commercial drivers and commuters across the State to see to the end of  criminality in these untoward acts.

The State Commandant  declared: "I have been duly informed of the high level of indecency in the use of the Corps insignias in the State and I want to warn that this behaviour, whether intentional or due to ignorance should be stopped forthwith to avoid any regrets as the Corps will henceforth arrest and prosecute such offenders across the State."

Meanwhile, he advised residents and indigenes of the state to observe all COVID-19 protocols to the letter to avoid communal spread of the virus as well flattens the curve of the pandemic in Ogun.
