Nigeria Records 148 New Cases Of Coronavirus, 98 Deaths

Nigeria has recorded 148 fresh cases of the dreadful COVID - 19 with 98 Deaths as total number of confirmed index cases reached 2,950. The first index case was discovered in the country on February 27.

Lagos State recorded the highest number of fresh cases (43) as of Tuesday while Ogun State had 6.

Just yesterday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, there was scare around Simeon Adebo Library, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)  and the Kuto branch of the Guaranty Trust Bank(GTB), Abeokuta, when a corpse of a suspected COVID - 19 patient who died inside a vehicle was dumped  by the roadside at a location opposite the GTbank by undentified driver, who also sped away afterwards.

The suspected patient identified as Alex, is a Beniose national  residing in Ijebu  - Ode, Ogun State, died inside the car of the fleeing driver but the deceased  supposed companion who held the corpse helplessly, was sighted in a trending video seeking help.

But the State Ministry of Environment had allayed the fear of the residents and the public, advising them to go about their routine businesses as the area had been decontaminated.

On the new Cases of COVID -19 according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) are :

"As at 11:40pm, 5th of May 2020, 2950 confirmed cases of COVID19 in Nigeria, 481 discharged and 98 dead," NCDC stated.
