NANS Hails FG's Efforts At Combating COVID - 19

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the President Muhammadu  Buhari - led Federal Government (FG)  for quickly putting in place measures to  contain the spread of coronavirus in the country.

The NANS' National Public Relations Officer, Adeyemi Azeez, said since the outbreak of the  virus with the confirmation of first index case late February,  FG has been doing the needful to bring the Coronavirus spread under control.

Adeyemi spoke in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, while briefing reporters on the pandemic  - with advice to Nigerians, particularly students to observe hands and respiratory hygiene and maintain social distancing to prevent the virus from spreading.

He said: ''We are aware of the crucial roles of Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC and the collaborating efforts of health practitioners and the civil societies. The government pronouncement on churches, mosques and other public places is commendable.

''I want to urge the federal government to be accountable in any counterparts it has received to combat and curtail the spread of Coronavirus.

''It is on credible information that China has not recorded a new case of 2019 -nCov following practical actions," he said.

He assured that NANS is in full  support of the closure of all federal government  - owned institutions ranging  from the federal colleges education to the universities.

Adeyemi enjoined all Nigerian students to abide by the guidelines released by the federal government in curbing and mitigating the effect of the deadly virus.

He also advised Nigerians to emulate all best hygiene practices, calling on all state governments within the country to demonstrate strength in character and capacity

The NANS PRO  therefore submitted that they are embarking on aggressive sensitization exercises through the social media platforms, prints and electronics media in mobilizing all Nigerians citizens to follow the directive of government and adhere strictly to in their day to day activities.
