Ganduje Named Aminu Ado Bayero New Emir Of Kano

      • Aminu Ado Bayero

Aminu Ado Bayero has been named the new emir of Kano Emirate. He succeeds Muhammad Sanusi 11.

Until his new elevation, Aminu was the Emir of Bichi.
He was named the emir of Bichi in 2019 after Governor Umar Ganduje divided the Kano Emirate into four.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero is the son of the 13th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Dr. Ado Abdullahi Bayero, who reigned from 1963 till his death in 2014.

The Announcement of Aminu Ado Bayero as new Emir of Kano Emirate was made by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Usman Alhaji, shortly after Sanusi was dethroned.

The appointment takes immediate effect just  as the removal of his predecessor was of also an immediate effect. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (Muhammad Sanusi 11) has since been banished to Nassarawa in Nasarawa State amid tight security.

Prior to being forced into exile in Nasarawa, a sleu of Operatives of the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security Service(DSS) and a detachment of soldiers had laid seige at the home and Palace of Muhammad Sanusi 11 and  was kept under house arrest awaiting formal announcement of his sack by the state government.

Soon as it was announced by the SSG, Sanusi was whisked away and taken to Nassarawa to pave way for the enthronement of a successor. Sanusi would spend the rest of his life in exile unless a competent court of the land reverses the dethronement.
