Police Commissioner Visits Victims Of Shooting In Market By SARS

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Kenneth Ebrimson, has visited the victims of Thursday shooting into a crowded Olomoore Market, Abeokuta and found them in stable condition at the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.

The shooting was said to have been carried out by people believed to be Operatives of the Special Anti - Robbery Squad(SARS), which left two Hausa traders with injuries.

Although, the Police had come out to say the people who allegedly fired into the market, were  men of the Anti-cultism team of the Ogun State Police Command and not the SARS. 

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who made this known in a release stated: "The command hereby wishes to dispel rumor circulating on social media that the two victims have died. To set the record straight, the two victims of the gun shot are alive and responding to treatment at the state general hospital Ijaiye Abeokuta where they were rushed to by the officers of the Command.

"The Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson who was at the scene of the incident on Thursday also visited the victims in the hospital where he met them in a very stable condition. As at this morning(on Friday), the officers of the Command have visited them in the hospital and they were responding well to treatment.

"Meanwhile, a full scale  investigation into the case has commenced as directed by the Commissioner of police with the view to unravel the immediate and remote cause of the crisis and sanction appropriately those that will be found wanting in one way or the other so as to forestall the re-occurrence of such ugly incident in future," Abimbola stated.

The Command through its Spokesperson,  appealed to the public, especially facebook and other social media users, to desist from spreading fake and unverified information as it is capable of causing chaos and unwarranted shedding of blood.
