Protest Rocks Bayelsa As Residents Look Forward To Diri's Swearing - In

Kelvin Ogbebor,

Angry Protesters believed to be supporters of the sacked All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, David Lyon, stormed  the premises of the Radio Bayelsa, on Friday, and allegedly destroyed and looted property they could lay hands on.

The Daily Crucible  gathered that the station's Operational vehicles were also destroyed during the siege on the facility, cutting short the joy of others who were celebrating the victory of the new Governor - elect, Duoye Diri, of the Peoples' Democratic Party(PDP).

Also the home of Diri in Bayelsa was not spared as hoodlums cashed in on the volatile situation in the state to attack his house, vandalising vehicles on ground and smashed the house's window panes.

There was commotion and pandemonium as his relatives and supporters, initially thinking the people had come to join in the  victory celebration, were shocked and fear - striken on discovering that they were armed hoodlums.

Our Correspondent learnt that Diri's people ran helter - skelter for safety. The PDP Secretariat was also  said to have been torched and properties vandalised wantonly even as gunshots were heard in many parts of Yenagoa.

Earlier, the major roads leading to Yenagoa, the state capital, the protesters blocked them with bonfire which they set at many points on the roads, even as they kept shouting 'No David Lyon, No Governor, No entry" to anybody.
