Soleimani: Citizens Disagree With Trump Over Power To Declare War On Iran...

From Gold Sharon, Foreign Desk

Some American citizens have disagreed with President Donald Trump over his claim that he could declare war on Iran, if the need arose, without notifying the United States Congress or obtaining its approval for such war.

They reminded Trump to take cognisance of the US Constitution, which provides that the "US Congress shall have power" to declare war.

This is coming as Iranian lawmakers chant “death to America.”

The citizens also faulted Trump's recourse to using his Twitter platform to notify the Congress that should Iran in the wake of the killing of Qud Force Commander, Qassim Soleimani, strikes any US citizen or target, the United States would strike back, perhaps, in a greater dimension.

Trump had in his Twitter handle some hours ago,  twitted: "These Media Posts will serve as notification to the United States Congress that should Iran strike any U.S. person or target, the United States will quickly & fully strike back, & perhaps in a disproportionate manner. Such legal notice is not required, but is given nevertheless!"

However, while some of his over 10million followers, hailed the tweet with one of them describing Trump as an "Awesome President," other twitteratis stated that the President had brought America to an all time low by electing to notify the Congress of his intention strike Iran via the Twitter handle, instead of meeting with the lawmakers in face - to face interaction.

"Thank you for being such an awesome President!!!
God bless President Trump!!!
Best POTUS EVER!!!," one Twitted.

But another, Sara Williams, said: "The United States now governs on Twitter. There isn't much lower to go."

Also, one Ryan Hill Twitted:"Legal notice is absolutely required!
Please familiarize yourself with the Constitution. U.S. Constitution
Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11:
“THE CONGRESS SHALL HAVE POWER TO DECLARE WAR.”
