Lagos West Seat: 34 Political Parties Endorse Adeola Reelection

In a last minute strategy to ensure the return of Senator Solomon Adeola to the Senate, a total of 34 political parties on Thursday endorsed his re-election while some other candidates out rightly stepped down for him at the Grand Finale of his whirlwind campaign in Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA).

The huge political gain came the way of Adeola, an All Progressives Congress(APC) Senator after successful campaigning in nine other LGAs of the largest senatorial district in Nigeria.

The Lagos West senatorial candidate of Peoples Party of Nigeria(PPN), Dr. Samuel Akinyemi Gabriel, made open the declaration on behalf of other candidates and political parties that included Alliance for Democracy (AD), Progressive Peoples Alliance(PPA) among others at Abesan Mini Stadium in Alimosho during Stakeholder’s meeting.

Samuel who was accompanied by many party leaders, said he admired Adeola style of politics over the years as both belonged to the same Alimosho, adding that he has  elected step down his candidacy in favour of Adeola in Saturday’s election to ensure the victory the Senator .

“I am a lover of progressive politics and good governance. We are progressives in our party too. I also testify to the progressive politics of Senator Adeola over the years. I am actually a fan of his in the political arena. 

"So I am stepping down for him alongside other candidates and 34 political parties, some of whom don’t have candidates. It is a joint decision after considering the major parties and candidate. Senator Adeola is the best choice for Lagos West,” he stated.

The Senate Committee Chairman on Local content, however, called for for violence free election on Saturday.

Dr. Gabriel said that youths should cast their vote for a tested legislator as Lagos West and indeed Lagos State cannot afford to field an inexperienced legislator in the highest legislative body in Nigeria.

The Senator who was elated at the gesture of the candidates and the political parties commended the candidates and political parties for acknowledging that he has done his best in effective representation and good governance as a legislator over the years.

He pledged improve on what he has done in the past as well as fulfill all pledges made during electoral campaign.

“I am in my home base here in Alimosho. I was elected for two terms as a State Legislator for Alimosho State Constituency 2. 

"I was elected as House of Representatives member for the Alimosho Federal Constituency and as Senator for Lagos West. In all Alimosho have stood by me with their massive votes and I promise to continue to do that which has earned me their confidence as a representative,” Adeola stated.

He urged the Alimosho electorate to continue to vote for the progressives as they had done since 1999, stressing that PDP and its candidates must not be allowed to come back to power to continue the looting and mis-governance of their 16 years.
