It was all excitement and expectations too as seven Reverend Canons of the Anglican church,  Asaba, Delta State, took their Oath of allegiance to the church.

The ceremony which took place on Saturday at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, Asaba,  was officiated by the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Asaba, Rt.Rev.Justus Mogekwu .

Those that took the Oath of allegiance were Sunday Mejulu, Victor Ikedia, Ifeanyi Gwam,Peter Adiebo, Ovie Ekpewu, Benjamin Okolotu and Chinweuba .

After pledging allegiance and loyalty to the Church,  Mogekwu pronounced the rights and privileges appertaining to the office of Canons and handed the official documents of recognition to the Canons.

Speaking earlier at the occasion, Mogekwu told the congregation that preferment  (promotion ) which necessitated the recognition of the seven was the reward of hard work, in keeping with the vision of the church, which is evangelism, church planting and spirituality.

The Bishop also reminded canons that they should see themselves as standards worthy of emulation, adding that falling below expectation could attract serious sanctions.
