Ogun State House of Assembly has asked the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker and her
Finance counterpart,  Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, to appear before the house and brief the lawmakers on the State Government's financial inflow and outflow in connection with the fight against the spread of COVID -19 pandemic.

The Assembly said the information is necessary and a guide to making an informed decision in respect of the request by the executive arm for approval to access the recently proposed N2.5bn Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) intervention fund.

Speaker Kunle Oluomo noted that the measure seeks to entrench transparency and accountability, urging the two Commissioners to appear before the lawmakers on Tuesday, next week.

The Daily Crucible recalls that the Assembly had earlier acknowledged a correspondence from Governor Dapo Abiodun seeking the lawmakers' consent to access the sum of N2.5bn in the on-going intervention fund provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The fund, the Governor had argued, would strengthen the State Health Sector to cope with the rising demand for healthcare products and services, following the fight against the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and its effects.
