The 16th Head of Service of Ogun State, Tpl Amope Chokor, on Friday bowed out of the civil service of the state in a blaze of encomiums and commendations with Governor Dapo Abiodun describing her as a diligent and forthright civil servant.

Abiodun said Mrs Chokor had at heart, the interest of the public service.

Also, colleagues of TPL Chokor in their tens, eulogised her exemplary service, humility, dedication and commitment to the overall development of the the state's workforce.

Earlier, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Kunle Oluomo, commended Chokor for contributing to the progress and development of the service and the entire State.
 
Oluomo said the retiring HoS' wealth of experience had impacted positively on the public servants,  leading to quality service delivery and  contributed to the promotion of good governance in the State.

The Speaker explained that she remained the first to have visited the Assembly to formally intimate the lawmakers of her retirement, adding that her role was essential in ensuring quality and purposeful service towards the effective execution and implementation of various Government policies, programmes and projects.

According to the Speaker,  the State and society would learn from her wealth of experience and expertise garnered over the years

For Governor Abidoun who spoke during a brief sendforth organised for the retiring Head of Service at the Governor's office, Oke- Mosan, it was gratitude all the way for Chokor for being a dedicated and selfless civil servant.

The state Chief Executive Officer noted that even though her time was short, it was fruitful all through.

"She is a God-fearing woman. She is a very dedicated woman, very forthright woman. She is very diligent and someone who at all times had the interest of civil servants at the top of her heart. 

"I want to thank her for the priviledge of having her as head of service. Even though it was for a short time, I want to wish her well in all her future endeavors," he said.

In her response, the retiring Head of Service,  Chokor thanked the governor for the opportunity she got to serve the state briefly, saying that her time as the 16th Head of Service was a fufilling one.

Chokor while attesting to the regular payment of salaries and the improvement of the welfare of the workforce of the state by  Governor Abidoun - led government, also lauded him for approving the downward review of the price of AAK Degun Workers Estate from 7,000,000 naira for a three bedroom flat to 5,500,000 naira and from 5,000,000 naira for a two bedroom flat to 4,000,000 naira.

"I want to thank God for the opportunity of seeing the last day in office as the Head of Service in Ogun State. I want to thank God for the opportunity of serving as the 16th Head of Service. 

"I want to attest to the fact that since he came into office, salaries of civil servants have been regular and punctual. Our work environment has improved.

" If you go round our offices, you will see improvement in the work environment, you'll see availability of work equipment for our officers.  The governor has also gone ahead to reduce the price of AAK Degun Estate for us. Thank you your Excellency," she said.
