Ilugun - Itoko Community Moves Against Dumping Of Waste On Drainages, Others

...Urges Residents To Obey Stay- at - Home order over COVID - 19

From Babalola Gafar, Abeokuta

Ilugun - Itoko Community in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State has advised residents to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse and other waste materials on water channels, and threatened to take tough sanction against anybody caught engaging in the practice henceforth.

The community said that waste materials and refuse were blocking water channels and leading to erosion which is endangering other people's properties and causing enormous damage to the graded road whenever it rains.

In a notice issued on Saturday by the Chairman, Ogunyawolu I.I., and Gbadamosi M.S. (Secretary) of the Ilugun - Itoko Community Development Association(CDA), they identified those whose businesses or residences situate along the road corridor as major perpetrators of the indiscriminate waste dumping on water ways.

While advising residents and shop/business owners along the road to desist from the practice and provide means of disposing generated wastes appropriately, the CDA leaders directed all business operators and traders to observe, henceforth,  the mandatory Thursday weekly environmental sanitation at their business premises and shops.

And as total lockdown has commenced in the state, they also reminded residents that the Coronavirus pandemic ravaging many countries of the world is real and advised everybody to obey the stay - at - home directive by the state and Federal Governments respectively in order to stem the spread of the dreaded virus.
