COVID - 19: Obiano Relaxes Lockdown, Ask Churches To Resume Full Activities

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State on Saturday evening relaxed the lockdown slammed on the state and asked churches and markets to commence full activities.

Obiano said churches should resume service, but added that the worshipers must wear face masks and observe the World Health Organisation’s guidelines about the pandemic during worship.

The Governor stated this in a broadcast to the people of the state, stressing that movements around the state were not restricted while all boundaries in the state, however, remained shut.

Hitherto, church activities had been restricted for 14 days as one of the measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus Pandemic.

He reminded the people of the need to sustain the regime of regular hands washing and respiratory hygiene, avoiding handshakes, application of hand sanitizers, and social distancing.

He said: “All food and drug markets in the state are to open with immediate effect.

“I will meet with market leaders on Monday, 27th April, for further discussion. When to re-open the schools as well as when civil servants will be allowed to go back to offices will be announced soon.”

Meanwhile, 87 new cases of COVID19 have been reported in seven States of the Federation, according to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The affected states are:
33 in Lagos 18 in Borno 12 in Osun 9 in Katsina 4 in Kano 4 in Ekiti 3 in Edo 3 in Bauchi 1 in Imo "As at 11:55 pm 25th April there are 1182 confirmed cases of COVID19 reported in Nigeria," NCDC stated. Accordy to disease monitoring body, a total of 222 have been discharged while 35 others have died of the disease.
