The number of confirmed cases of COVID - 19 have reached all time high of 111  on Monday with 14 fresh cases recorded, according to Ngeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC).

Nine of the 14 cases were recorded in Lagos which President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier described as the epicentre of the pandemic in Nigeria. The other five occurred in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

"As at 09:30 pm 29th March there are 111 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 1 death," NCDC twitted.

The Centre also noted that it is aware of Rapid Diagnostic Test(RDT) but it would not purchase any until it is validated and reliable.

" No Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kit for COVID19 has been validated.

"We are aware of validation studies going on. Until these are completed, we cannot procure RDTs, because we do not know if they work.," it  concluded.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has revealed that SouthAfrica remains the country most affected by the virus on the continent with 1,280 cases, 1 death and 31.
