Supreme Court Sacks Ihedioha, Declared Uzodinma Imo Governor

Jane Okafor, Abuja

The Supreme Court on Tuesday sacked Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State and proceeded to declare candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Hope Uzodinma, as Governor.

The Supreme also ordered that Uzodinma be sworn in without delay.

The Supreme Court also asked  the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately issue certificate of return to  Senator Uzodinma.

The Apex Court in ejecting Governor Emeka Ihedioha, in its lead judgment delivered  by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun,  unanimously agreed that the INEC erred in excluding some votes from the total votes polled by Uzodinma.

Days earlier,  the fiery Preacher and Catholic Reverend father, Ejike Mbaka, had predicted that Uzodinma would be crowned Governor of Imo State.

And despite criticisms and condemnations that trailed the prophesy, Mbaka remained adamant, insisting that  Governor Ihedioha, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate,  should prepare to vacate his office.

According to the Enugu based Father, the Holy Spirit had rejected him.

“Those who are attacking the message are just casting Pearl before swine, the Holy Spirit has said it, and that is final.

“I don’t know how it will happen but the only thing is that I see hope, joy, and a new government coming in Imo state.

“Even though Ihedioha has won in tribunal and at the Appeal court, that doesn’t mean that he will triumph in Supreme Court enough of all this brouhaha!

“What we are doing in adoration here is spiritual, it is not according to our power, it is Holy Spirit, once he reveals it, we say it.

“Ihedioha and co should go and relax. This is not unprecedented, it happened to Jonathan, Atiku and Peter Obi and after everything, my prophecy came through.

“You must not be the Governor of Imo state, and you are not better than Hope Uzodinma,” Mbaka said

Already, the party at the national level had expressed happiness over the Supreme Court’s declaration on Senator Hope Uzodinma, as the valid winner of  the 2019 governorship election in Imo state.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu  in a statement said the party wondered why it lost elections won in Zamfara State at the Supreme Court, saying as a political party its faith in the judiciary remained unwavering.

“We salute Senator Hope Uzodinma, our supporters and members for their temperance displayed in the aftermath of the blatant rigging of the Imo Governorship election. We chose to focus on the judicial route to reclaim the Party’s mandate. We are confident that our other stolen electoral mandates will be restored by the courts,” Onilu said.

The party called on all Imo State APC stakeholders to rally round Senator Uzodinma to ensure the success of the Party’s Next Level agenda and to democratically entrench the APC in the state and entire South East.
