Ogun First Lady Doles Out Cash, Gifts To 2020 First Babies

Wife of the Governor of Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, has welcomed the first babies of the year in the state, advising nursing mothers to exclusively breast feed their babies to ensure a healthy mental and physical growth.

The first baby, a  girl identified as Osungbure, was  born at about 12.01am, weighing 3.3kg while the second baby, a  boy - Akindele, was born at 12.10am and weighed 2.5kg.

Both were delivered at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH),Sagamu.

While congratulating  their mothers, Oluwakemi Osungbure and Folashade Akindele for safe delivery and prayed for the babies who, she said, came at the beginning of another decade.

Mrs. Abiodun donated cash and  items to the babies when she visited them at OOUTH.

 Emphasising the importance of of exclusive breastfeeding, the First Lady said breast milk contained required nutrients needed by the babies for total growth and development.

 She said that breast milk would help prevent illnesses and mortality among infants, affirming government readiness to improve on mother and child health in the state.
She also extended her kind gesture to other babies in the maternity ward of the hospital noting that  babies were special gifts from God and should be cherished and blessed.

She settled the hospital bills of mothers of some other babies who were not able to pay, assuring that the present administration would not relent in enhancing the health status of the citizens. 

The elated mothers of the first babies and other mothers in ward all commended her for choosing to bless them and their babies, with some some of them saying the impact of the Dapo Abiodun - administration is already being felt by many in the state.

 Mrs.Abiodun also visited Oba Ademola II Maternity Hospital, Ijemo, Abeokuta where she welcomed baby girl Olagoke with gifts and cash.
 The wife of the Governor was also at the Primary Health Care Center Igbogila in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun state where she admonished mother of the newborn baby girl, Koselu delivered at 12.01am not to see breast feeding as an option but a priority towards ensuring healthy growth devoid of diseases  and ailments that could child mortality.

Represented in Igbogila by the Commissioner designate Ministry of Health,  Dr. Tomi Coker, the Governor's wife donated cash and baby items to the newborn and the mother.
