Plots To Produce Next Speaker For Delta Assembly Thicken In Urhoboland

• Oborevwori

There appeared to be no end to the resolve of the Urhobo politicians and leaders in ensuring that the incumbent Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Rt.Hon.
Sheriff Oborevwori, did not become Speaker of the forthcoming 7th State Legislative Assembly.

The Urhobo politicians and leaders have not only zoned the Speakership position to Ethiope, specifically Ethiope West, but are also openly and subtly pushing for a lawmaker from the area to occupy Oborevwori's position come June, 2019.

The Daily Crucible learnt that the Urhobo politicians and leaders have maintained that the incumbent's position in DTHA ends in June, saying it is not cast on rock that Mr Sheriff Oborevwori must come back as Speaker in the next dispensation.

They reckoned that the lawmaker representing Ethiope West is the best bet for the job, where he will leverage on his experience, wisdom and knowledge to promote the economic, social and political agenda of the Dr Ifeanyi Okowa led People's Democratic Party (PDP) government.

It was learnt that the leaders see  the Ethiope West lawmaker as a sincere politician and team leader  that can reposition the State Assembly, mobilise members and staff for social and economic growth as well as  make the legislature a robust arm of the government.

And on Saturday, the leaders affirmed that the Ethiope West lawmaker has their blessings and will be next Speaker.

The leaders also urged well meaning politicians and leaders to demand that informed mind leads the incoming Legislative Assembly of the oil - rich Delta state.
