Outrage, Curses Over burning Of Ogun Deputy Speaker's Building, Vehicles

Outrage, curses and condemnations have  poured in torrents over the savage attack on the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Kunle Oluomo and his properties worth tens of millions of naira by hoodlums suspected to be working for politicians opposed to the All Progressives Congress(APC) and its chieftains in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The hoodlums, over a dozen of them, in a fit of rage had on Easter Sunday invaded the constituency office of Oluomo in Ifo town and razed it. They also set ablaze, five vehicles on ground while retreating after the arson.

Not contented with the level of destruction wrecked on the Deputy Speaker's properties, the hoodlums also dashed to the Constituency office of the  Ifo / Ewekoro Federal House of Representatives member, Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka, and burnt it down, leaving the better part of Easter Sunday in chaos and apprehension  in Ifo town.

The Daily Crucible learnt that the hoodlums were incensed by the death of one of them in an encounter with the police during Akoogun festival being celebrated in the town  and decided to unleash their anger on Oluomo properties and other APC members on the suspicion that they invited the Police to the festival.

The alleged killing, The Daily Crucible learnt further,  impelled the hoodlums to storm Oluomo's  Constituency office, razed it and five vehicles, including three Mercedes, 42 seater buses, one  Isuzu Luxury bus and a 36 - seater coaster bus being used as free school shuttle to ferry pupils and students  to and fro schools in Ifo town.

However, well meaning members of the public and residents have taken to the social media to condemn the act, with all of them calling on the Police to go after the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

They also advised the Ogun State Police Command to urgently steps in to arrest the situation in order to forestall a situation where the Gateway state slides once again into orgies of violence reminiscence of the state's past era.

One of the people that condemned the dastardly acts include the Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Committee of the APC in the state, Ambassador Tunde Oladunjoye  who wondered whether the  power that be plans to leave Ogun State in chaos.

Oladunjoye called on men of goodwill to rise up before the state is completely burnt down.

He stated:  "There are pictures of the properties of Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, winner of the Ogun House of Assembly election in Ifo Constituency.

"Oluomo who is also the current Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly had his office attacked and burnt down by thugs suspected to be members of Amosun-funded Allied People’s Movement (APM), on Sunday in Ifo."

Also, one Ayo AY, on his face page deplored the destruction of the Deputy Speaker's free shuttle vehicles, saying the perpetrators have only succeeded in hurting thousands of school children who are the beneficiaries of free transportation to and fro schools on each school day.

Ayo who described the destruction as an act of "insanity,"  stated that it is the type of phenomenon that afflict a people when a father's insanity affects the innocent children.

Ayo stated: "Those who set the free school buses ablaze at Ifo think in their ignorance that they are hurting Hon Oluomo, no, they are hurting helpless school children who benefits from the free ride to and from school, something they won't get at least until someone else provides similar or those  are replaced from monies that should go into other social amenities.

"I don't care what faction or political party you belong, innocent nonpartisan school children are first casualties of this madness in the name of politics.

"If not out of pure insanity, how on earth will any human being reaction to whatever action be to go and set ablaze busses used to convey poor innocent school children free of charge. There should be limit to madness in the name of politics."

Another concerned members of the public, Abiodun Gafar, who voiced out his displeasure at the attack on Hon. Oluomo's office, using his social media platform,  stated it is a "criminal act."

Abiodun also described it as a "devilish act" and urged all security agencies to do all within their reach to bring the perpetrators to book.

He stated: "After reading about the incident from a WhatsApp group, I decided to conduct my personal investigation on the matter and I realized it was more of criminal than political

"This cannot be political because there's absolutely no political activity that may warrant calling such devilish and criminal act political. And I think the sponsors and perpetrators of the barbaric act should be brought to book

"These senseless and never do well people did not even take into consideration thousands of schools pupils and students that only relied on the burnt buses as a way of transportation to their schools.

" I Am sure many of their families and friends are also beneficiaries of the gestures from the revered and Distinguished Hon Oluomo. The evil that lives in the hearts of the perpetrators must be decisively dealt with as they are capable of doing worse.

"I also join other sympathisers to condemn this devilish act and urge all security agencies to do all within their reach to bring the perpetrators to book.

"There's no doubt that the Oluomos and other properties need police protection at this period."

Although there are indications that Ogun State Police Command have moved in to arrest the situation and ensure there is further breakdown of law or destruction but worried Oluomo  said Ifo town needs adequate security and called on the security agencies to pay closer attention to the area lest it slips into unmanageable dimension.

Oluomo stated:"This to invite the attention of security agencies to Ogun State Ifo to forestall total break down of law and order.

"Yesterday was the final Akoogun festival in Ifo and one of the boys opposed to APC during the last election invited many of the political thugs and unionists that were involved in attacks against me and APC supporters during the elections.

"I learnt SARS trailed one of the boys to the venue for gun possession and got him arrested with the gun,  others surrounded  the police to prevent the boy from being taken away, took the gun back from the policemen and even attempted to seize AK47 from one of the policemen, in the melee, one of the boys was killed and the policemen escaped from the scene.

"The boys later regrouped and started attacking any APC members or supporters in sight, accusing them of inviting police, they later mobilized themselves in large numbers, moved to my constituency office and set ablaze 5 vehicles ( three Mercedes 42 seater buses, one  Isuzu Luxurious bus and a 36 seater coaster bus) that I use for free school shuttle, the entire office was razed down and they later moved to the constituency of Ifo / Ewekoro Federal Rep, Hon. Ibrahim Isiaka and burnt it down as well.

"I must state here that they have been trailing me since i won the 9th March election, in fact, I have to seek police protection for my house and office for the first two weeks after the election because they keep threatening that they will bring me down on or before May 29th.

"I hereby appeal to all securities agencies in Ogun State to please give special attention to Ifo ( I understand they planned another attack for today again) and order thorough investigation into matter to bring the perpetrators to book."
